The Savannah Sand Gnats beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 5-0. Savannah pitcher and Cedar Park, Texas, native Dave Gaines led the way. Savannah reliever Dave Gaines got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Aurelio Thompson was tagged with the loss. Kannapolis drops to 3-3.

The Sand Gnats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tyrone Jackson. For the game, Jackson went 1 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Savannah a 2-0 lead.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Jackson told the Savannah Herald.
