Grasshoppers Earn Clutch Win, 3-2
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers got a good effort from starter Phil Neal in defeating the Rome Hammers at NewBridge Bank Park. The final score was 3-2. Lou Cymbal got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The Grasshoppers, now 4-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Greensboro left fielder Brad Jackson, facing Joe Burton, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Grasshoppers the 3-2 win.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Neal told the Greensboro Times. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
