Greensboro and Lakewood duked it out and the Grasshoppers came out victorious.

The Lakewood BlueClaws were defeated, 4-1, by the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park, even though Ed McClarnon pitched well for Lakewood. Brit Connolly claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0.

The Grasshoppers got a big at-bat from third baseman Dan Fawkes. For the game, Fawkes went 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Greensboro a 2-1 lead.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Fawkes told the Greensboro Times. "But we take nothing for granted."

Lakewood is 1-3 after the defeat.
