Both offenses were relatively subdued at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Fortunately for the Lexington Legends, though, Ed Barton was able to deliver in the clutch. He threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball, to lead his team past the Kannapolis Intimidators, 1-0. The win gives Lexington a record of 3-1.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the 11th, an error by the Intimidators allowed the Legends to score the winning run.

"You know what they say," Lópes told reporters after the game. "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings."
