Whitecaps 5-1 Winners Over Fort Wayne
The West Michigan Whitecaps topped the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-1, with third baseman Mike Murillo playing a big role. Murillo went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Whitecaps in the win. Dave Johnson, the winning pitcher, is now 6-1. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 1. The Whitecaps lead the Eastern Division by 18 games.

With West Michigan leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Murillo hit a curveball from José Vásquez for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Whitecaps ahead, 5-0.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Fort Wayne manager Yunir Garcia.
