Timber Rattlers Score Late, Topple Snappers, 6-4
|
Beloit got a terrific performance from pitcher Eric Beach, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Wisconsin won the Harry C. Pohlman Field contest, 6-4. Beach threw 8.0 innings allowing 1 run for the losing team. Wisconsin reliever Jerry Ross picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Han-soo Lee was saddled with the loss. José Ferreira closed the door for Wisconsin, picking up his 16th save of the year.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ron Harris? The 22-year old third baseman Harris stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put Wisconsin up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Harris, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Timber Rattlers are now 62-69, while the Snappers fall to 66-65.
