South Bend center fielder Phil Lind had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 11-6. South Bend's record now stands at 71-58, placing them second in the Eastern Division.

With South Bend leading 8-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Lind came up to bat against West Michigan pitcher Rob Gachinsky. Lind hit a slider to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 21st home run of the season put the Cubs on top, 11-1.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Lind told the South Bend Gazette.
