Cardinals Lose to Reds, 6-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, taking down the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-3. Starting pitcher Walt Sharpe was a big reason why. Julius Taylor was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. The loss drops St. Louis to 17-13.
Jeff Adams had a big 2-run double for the Reds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint and swatted a double to left. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 3-0.
Cincinnati manager Julio Vinas was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
