Whitecaps Trip Hot Rods, 5-3, in Extra Innings
Freddie Johnson was instrumental in his team's 5-3 triumph over the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The first baseman went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the West Michigan Whitecaps. The first-place Whitecaps have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.

West Michigan won the game in part because of Joe McCarty. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whitecaps ahead, 4-3. For the game, McCarty had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
