Puig of Minnesota Crowned Best Player Monday, September 7th , 2026 In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Yasiel Puig of Minnesota recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the American League Player of the Week Award. "I've been playing since I was a kid," Puig told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success." Puig outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 10 hits in 20 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 3 RBIs to stake his claim to the award. Thus far this season, Puig is hitting .288 with 14 home runs, 52 RBIs and 71 runs scored. He has 156 hits in 541 at-bats and has played in 136 games. |
