Arizona, Los Angeles Agree to Trade
Monday, July 20th , 2026
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Arizona and Los Angeles have made a swap with 29-year old RHP Jorge Gonzáles being shipped to the Dodgers and in return the Diamondbacks would get 25-year old RHP Jon Cameron and 25-year old minor league RHP Chip Hayes.
Arizona general manager Blake Rowe said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.
"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."
A source inside the Arizona organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.
For the year, Gonzáles has made 43 relief appearances with 25 saves. He has also fashioned a 5-7 won-lost mark with a 3.20 ERA. In 45 innings he has fanned 48.
This season, Jon Cameron has made 19 relief appearances, saving 3. His record is 1-2 with 40 strikeouts in 58.1 innings and a 4.78 ERA.
