Kansas City Moves on to League Divisional Series Thursday, October 2nd , 2025 It's a sweet sweep for the Kansas City Royals and they have won the Wildcard Series. The Detroit Tigers were not able to keep pace with the Royals and dropped the series in short order, losing, 5-4, in the deciding game. "This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Detroit manager Robert Carson. It's now on to the League Divisional Series for Kansas City after their 2-0 series win. Leading the way for the winners was third baseman Camil Groza, who was named MVP. For the series, Groza hit .400 with a .333 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 0 runs. The Kansas City Royals will play against the Boston Red Sox in the next round. Boston won their series against the Seattle Mariners 2 games to 0.
