The Math Says - Oakland Out of Playoffs Thursday, September 18th , 2025 The Oakland Athletics have a new opponent: mathematics. The Athletics still have games to play in their disappointing 2025 campaign, but the numbers say they won't mean much -- the Athletics were today mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the postseason. Oakland last appeared in the postseason in 2023. This is their 2nd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 99 times in their 125-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Athletics have missed the playoffs 6 times. Oakland last won the World Series in 1989. |
