Boston-New York Brawl, Vitzhum and Brown Suspended
Sunday, August 24th , 2025
Yesterday at Yankee Stadium Patrick Vitzhum and Nate Brown got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Vitzhum will have to sit out 4 while Brown would be given a 2-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This year, Vitzhum has hit at a .288 clip with 119 hits, 12 home runs, 61 RBIs and 47 runs scored.
This season, Brown has been credited with 8 saves. In 31 relief appearances and 58.1 innings he has a 3-4 won-lost mark, 6.33 ERA and 49 strikeouts
