Cleveland, New York Agree to Swap Thursday, July 21st , 2022 You can focus on the negatives after being traded to a new team -- finding a new place to stay, leaving teammates and friends, having to start anew -- but one player hopes to focus on the positives. "It means I'm wanted somewhere. At least one team sees potential in me." Those were the comments heard after the Cleveland Spiders came to an agreement to deal 24-year old minor league CF J.J. Cortini and 28-year old minor league 3B Fernando Perez to the New York Mets for 28-year old 3B Cecilio Aybar earlier today. The deal is expected to be formally announced later this evening. For his career Perez has batted .251 and hit 38 home runs. This season Aybar is batting .291 with 7 home runs. |
