Red-Hot Monroe Scorches Pirates Saturday, July 19th , 2025 Jimmy Monroe was at the head of a Houston (GCL) hit parade at Ballpark of Belvedere. The right fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 6 hits, sparking the Astros to a nice 14-5 victory over the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Monroe told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Pirates skipper Kyle Lohse said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Jimmy Monroe hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
