Nationals Hurler Named GCL's #1 Starter Sunday, August 1st , 2021 When the Nationals skipper wrote Benson on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in July he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 1.03 ERA in 5 starts. The gifted Nationals star pitched 35 innings, fanned 46 and held opposing teams to a .140 average. For his excellent mound work Benson was named the GCL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. |
