Auburn Halts Cantú's Hitting Steak Tuesday, August 12th , 2025 The hitting streak that Staten Island left fielder Jorge Cantú had kept going for 22 games was ended by the Auburn Doubledays. Cantú was stymied over 4 at-bats, but the rest of his team picked him up, getting the 3-2 victory at Falcon Park. "Hitting streaks come and go," Cantú said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." In 70 games this season, Cantú is batting .384 with 113 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 46 runs and driven in 41. |
