New York-Penn League Names Top Player

Pitchers who faced the Aberdeen Ironbirds last week were happy to see Shawn Baker in the rear-view mirror. The 22-year-old shortstop was dubbed the New York-Penn League Player of the Week for a 6-game tear that saw him hit at a .654 clip.
For the week he also chalked up 17 hits in 26 at-bats, no home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
This season, Baker is batting .371 with 69 hits, 4 home runs, 37 RBIs, 16 walks, .426 OBP and has scored 32 runs. He has played in 44 games.
