Top SL Reliever Honored
Wednesday, October 8th , 2025
At the age of 22, Luis Fuentes says he still has a lot to learn about life in Southern League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Jacksonville Suns reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2025 Southern League Reliever of the Year.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Indianapolis, Indiana native said.
For the season, Fuentes had 46 saves in 61 relief appearances, which totaled 77. He fanned 98 betters, while walking 32 and put up a record of 4-1 to go with his 0.94 ERA.
He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. António Castaneda of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos finished second in voting, while Bob Petersen of the Tennessee Smokies finished third.
