Firebirds, Wade Blank Jackson, 5-0
Sunday, September 7th , 2025
The Jackson Generals were almost helpless in their 5-0 loss to the Mississippi Firebirds and hurler Jim Wade. Wade kept the Generals confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Wade," Jackson manager Mark L. Johnson said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 27-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Wade said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season, Wade has worked 92 innings with 99 strikeouts en route to a 6-6 record and a 2.25 ERA.
