Player of the Week: Smith of the Sky Sox Monday, May 30th , 2022 24-year-old Jim Smith made a few Colorado Springs headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Pacific Conference officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 9 hits in 21 at-bats to put up a .429 average. Smith collected 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 5 runs. In 47 games this season Smith has compiled a .246 batting average with 44 hits and 9 home runs. He has also scored 26 times and knocked in 29 runs. |
