|
In a close game at O.co Coliseum, the Chicago White Sox edged the Oakland Athletics, 4-3. Chicago designated hitter Felix Mercedes stood apart with his performance. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Steve Peters collected his 4th save. The Athletics drop to 9-17, as their fitful start to the 2025 campaign continues.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder António García came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Oakland pitcher Tommy Meyers, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 4-3.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Oakland skipper Bob Melvin.
