Texas Wins, 7-6, Over Pirates
|
The Texas Rangers overcame a good performance by Pittsburgh designated hitter Mauro Rodríguez to knock off Pittsburgh, 7-6, at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Rodríguez was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Texas pitcher Chris Wynn got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Joe Kaiser got the loss. Texas goes to 12-11.
Tony Silva was the walk-off hero for Texas. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rangers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Texas manager Eric Wedge.
