Nationals Drop Hammers, 3-2
|
The Washington Nationals took Kevin Key's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Nationals Park. The final score had Washington getting past the Hammers, 3-2, in 11 innings. Key over 6 innings allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 8. The win takes Washington to 14-10.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Washington second baseman Mathies Reuter, facing Joel Nelson, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Nationals the 3-2 win.
Reuter said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
