Reds Deal Rays 2-1 Loss
|
Starting pitcher Walt Sharpe gave the Cincinnati Reds a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-1, at Tropicana Field. Sharpe yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-2. Dave Parsons wrapped it up, recording his 8th save.
Orlando Arcia, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in doubles with 8, had a direct impact on the outcome. Arcia contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put Cincinnati up, 2-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Tampa Bay manager Joey Cora.
The Rays fall to 9-13 and continue their lackluster start to the 2026 season.
