It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Royals fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.

Riding the 2-hit performance of the 26-year old left fielder Jorge Palmeiro, the Kansas City Royals stopped the Detroit Tigers, 7-1. Kevin Martin was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was fireballing left-hander Luis Muñóz.

Dave García went 1-3, while scoring 2 times against the Tigers. In the top of the first inning, he reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run, putting Kansas City in front, 1-0.

"I'm proud to wear a Kansas City jersey," García told the Kansas City Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"

With the loss, Detroit is 12-10.
