James Paxton, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.17 in 2015, propelled his team to victory over the Washington Nationals. The final score was 4-3, Pittsburgh. Washington is 9-7 after the defeat.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Pittsburgh second baseman Brandon Martin, facing Robbie McJannett, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Pirates the 4-3 win.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Paxton said.
