Hooks Earn 4-1 Home Win
|
The San Antonio Missions went down to defeat to Wes Carter and his Corpus Christi teammates. The final score was 4-1, in favor of the Hooks. Don Scott was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. Corpus Christi has won 3 straight, while San Antonio has lost 3 in a row.
Pete Becker had a big 2-run double for the Hooks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Corpus Christi leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from António Villanueva, who leads the TEX in complete games with 3, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hooks ahead, 3-0.
Corpus Christi manager Alex Gordon commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
