Hooks Slap 5-3 Loss on San Antonio
|
The Corpus Christi Hooks beat the San Antonio Missions, 5-3, at Whataburger Field. The win was due in part to designated hitter Norberto Costello, who was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Corpus Christi reliever David Lopez picked up the win. Jerry Weaver, who is tied for 4th in the TEX in quality starts with 6, took the loss for San Antonio. The win for the Hooks lifted their record to 28-16.
Costello contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Corpus Christi in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Costello took a curveball from Jerry Weaver and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Hooks to leap in front, 5-3.
Corpus Christi manager Evan Scribner praised his team's "businesslike approach."
