Cardinals Take Down Travelers, 3-2
The Springfield Cardinals got a good effort from starter Alfredo Rocha in defeating the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park. The final score was 3-2. Springfield pitcher Chad Cooke got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mike Wolf got the loss. Juan Ángel stitched up the save, his 3rd.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Bert Wemp was at the plate when Springfield scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cardinals to go in front, 3-2.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Arkansas manager Mike Redmond.

The triumph puts Springfield at 23-14 for the season.
