Missions Pick Up 5-1 Win Against Springfield
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Springfield Cardinals and San Antonio Missions get after it.
San Antonio Missions starter Juan Bernard hurled his team past the Springfield Cardinals, 5-1. Bernard got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Quentin Bixler got credit for the save for San Antonio. It was his 4th of the year.
The Missions got a big at-bat from third baseman Greg Benner. For the game, Benner was 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave San Antonio a 3-0 lead.
Said losing manager Elvis Morel: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
After losing, Springfield is 5-6.
