Montgomery Biscuits starter Juan Rodríguez turned in a top-notch performance against the Tennessee Smokies at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The result was a win for the Biscuits, 1-0. Rodríguez, now 15-11, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Montgomery is now 53-86, while Tennessee is 55-84.
Jesús Mencío was 1 for 3 for Montgomery. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Willie Johnson. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"Watch and learn," said Mencío. "This is what good pitching looks like."
