Simpson goes 3-for-4 as BayBears Squeeze Past Tennessee
|
The Mobile BayBears beat the Tennessee Smokies, 4-3, at Hank Aaron Stadium. Ronnie Simpson went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The 24-year old right fielder was a menace to Tennessee all day. Josh Mitchell earned his 31st save in 34 tries. Mobile, at 65-73, holds down third place in the South Division.
Simpson had a timely hit for Mobile in the bottom of the eighth. With Tennessee trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-2 forkball into a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Mobile.
Simpson said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
