|
Jacksonville Suns starter Orlando Rivera pitched his team past the Tennessee Smokies, 3-2. Rivera got the win, improving to 9-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Luis Fuentes picked up the save, his 45th.
Jean-Paul Robert had a big run-scoring triple for the Suns in the bottom of the third inning. With Jacksonville leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Gene Allen, who is tied for 4th in the SL in complete games with 4, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Suns ahead, 3-1.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Robert crowed after the game.
The Suns, at 85-51, have now won 6 straight.
