Starting pitcher Andy Beltre took care of business, helping the Montgomery Biscuits stifle the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 5-2. The winner was Beltre. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Chad Johnson. Juan Díaz got credit for the save for Montgomery. It was his 6th of the year.
Montgomery relied on the hitting of Steve Stover to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning to put the Biscuits on top, 3-1. For the game, Stover had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought we played a nice game," Stover told the Montgomery Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
By defeating Pensacola, the 4th-place Biscuits improved to 56-76.
