Behind the bravura of third baseman Jose E. Benjamin, the Mobile BayBears topped the Montgomery Biscuits by the score of 8-4. Benjamin went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the BayBears. The 4th-place BayBears raised their record to 61-70.

Tyrone Smith had a timely hit in the top of the seventh inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Mobile center fielder hit a 2-run double. That put the BayBears in front, 8-4.

"It's not about individual awards," Smith told a Mobile Daily reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
