The Shuckers grabbed a win, 2-1, at AT&T Field, overcoming a fine effort from Chattanooga pitcher José Romero. Romero went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Berto Amoyo, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Dave Fehilly was credited with the save, his 2nd in 3 tries.
Jeff Walker had a direct impact on the outcome. Walker contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Biloxi up, 2-1.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Walker.
The Shuckers sport a record of 38-70.
