Jacksonville put its winning streak on the line.
The Jacksonville Suns used an offensive barrage to beat the Tennessee Smokies, 11-0, at Smokies Park. Robby Márquez led the way, going 2-for-4 for Jacksonville. Jarred Turner was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed no runs on no hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Jacksonville used the hitting of Jorge Dueñas to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Suns on top, 3-0. For the game, Dueñas had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said Márquez.
Jacksonville has now won 9 straight, while the Smokies have lost 4 in a row.
