Good production from third baseman Desi Rush helped the Mississippi Hammers topple the Mobile BayBears, 6-0. Rush went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles for the Hammers. Francisco A. Sanchez snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 4 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The BayBears, at 40-53, have lost 4 in a row.

Jorge Alirez had a big solo home run for the Hammers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Mississippi leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a slider from Hank Wilson and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hammers ahead, 2-0.

"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Chris Herrmann.
