The Montgomery Biscuits besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Birmingham shortstop Steve Winters by beating the Barons, 7-4, at Regions Park. Winters was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times. Josh Cox, credited with the save, is now 17 for 18 in save opportunities. By defeating Birmingham, the last-place Biscuits improved to 35-55.
It could have been a different outcome for Montgomery, had it not been for Oriol Rodríguez, the 22-year old third baseman . Rodríguez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Montgomery up, 6-2.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Rodríguez told the Montgomery News.
