Ben Lake of the Montgomery Biscuits was on top of his game.

The 24-year-old tantalized the Jacksonville Suns with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.

"He had the changeup working," Jacksonville manager John Tamargo Jr. said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Montgomery hurler had 13 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Lake told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

Currently Lake has a 2-8 won-lost record in 15 starts with a 5.40 ERA. He also has 103 strikeouts in 91.2 innings.
