Montgomery got a big-time effort from pitcher Ben Lake, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tennessee Smokies from winning the game, 7-6. Lake threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Daniel Flores in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Horace Cook took the loss. The Smokies have now won 6 straight.

Bob Henderson was the walk-off hero for Tennessee. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Smokies third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Tennessee manager Kevin Riggs.
