Tennessee first baseman Jon Jackson contributed significantly to his team's 8-6 win over the Jacksonville Suns. Jackson, who is tied for 2nd in the SL with a .982 OPS, went 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Smokies. Jeremy Olsen earned the save for Tennessee, his 6th. The Smokies go to 22-34 with the win.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jorge Cortéz? The Tennessee designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Smokies on top, 4-0. For the game, Cortéz had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Smokies manager Kevin Riggs. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
