Biscuits Win at Mississippi, 6-2
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Montgomery Biscuits and Mississippi Firebirds.
With center fielder Steve Stover leading the charge, the Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Mississippi Firebirds, 6-2, at Trustmark Park. Stover, who is tied for 6th in the SL in triples with 3, was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Dan Gardner, who threw 100 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits. Francisco A. Sanchez was credited with the save for Montgomery, his 2nd of the season.
With Montgomery trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Stover hit a cutter from Oscar Willis for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Biscuits ahead, 2-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Stover.
The victory puts Montgomery at 21-31.
