Barons Earn Late 5-4 Win
|
The Birmingham Barons weathered an outstanding game by Montgomery second baseman Joe Peterson to topple the Biscuits, 5-4. Peterson went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. With the win, the Barons have a record of 23-23.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Juan Ramos came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Montgomery pitcher Sergio Díaz, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Birmingham on top, 5-4.
Birmingham manager Casey Kopitzke praised his team's "energy."
