Biloxi Upended, 4-2, by Mississippi
Mississippi pitcher António Martínez did his part in helping his team beat the Biloxi Shuckers, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Martínez, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Juan Martínez closed the door for Mississippi, picking up his 12th save of the year.

Chad Wiggins had a big 2-run double for the Firebirds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Mississippi leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher José López and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firebirds ahead, 3-0.

"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Martínez.

The win puts Mississippi at 26-16 this season.
