Yankees Lose to Astros, 6-2
|
Fans of the Houston Astros who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Houston win over the visiting New York Yankees, 6-2. Mike Cunningham started for the home team against Adys Portillo. Adys Portillo earned accolades for his performance. The winner was Tim Dugas in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Adys Portillo took the loss.
Houston pinch hitter Jorge Gonzáles helped the Astros go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Gonzáles hit a 2-run single off New York pitcher Caleb Williams.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Gonzáles told the Houston Gazette. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
