The Pensacola Blue Wahoos rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Doug Merkel to a win, beating the Biloxi Shuckers, 4-2, at Five County Stadium. Pensacola has 3 straight wins, Biloxi 3 straight losses.

Ignacio López hit a 2-run triple off Bob Hunter in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Blue Wahoos in front, 4-2. López had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.

"Doug kind of went out and dug down and got some outs when he needed to," said Pensacola manager Chad Allen.
