Giants Handle Cincinnati, Snag 4-2 Win
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Cincinnati Reds home opener. Steven Matz started for the home team against Ritzi Mendoza for the San Francisco Giants. The Reds were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-2, San Francisco. Ritzi Mendoza, though, was impressive. Mendoza yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0.

The Giants got a big at-bat from third baseman Nolan Arenado. For the game, Arenado went 2-5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave San Francisco a 3-2 lead.

"Ritzi just settled in and did what he does," said San Francisco manager Travis Fryman.
